J198 INTERNSHIP GUIDELINES

For internship applications: You may request for an endorsement letter at the Journalism Dept., a standard letter is with TINE, just give her the name, title and company of addressee and your full name.

 

Here are the list of requirements

1. Letter of acceptance or copy of internship contract with the company;

 

2. Notarized Letter of Consent Form (Download form HERE ). This is required by UP System and CHED;

 

3. To be submitted in June to your J198 professor:
Index card with: recent photo, name/nickname, contact info (mobile, email), office of internship, its address and landline. Name of immediate supervisor

 

 

End of sem requirements

 

1. Daily time record showing 150 hours fulfilled
(either the form in link below or the company timecard)

 

2. Evaluation form filled up by immediate supervisor (Download forms HERE)

 

3. 500-word to 700-word essay on your experience and its relevance to your career plans

 

 

Internship companies should be media-related.

Here are some examples:

1. newspapers, mainstream or community-based papers must be a member of the Philippine Press Institute 

2. magazines (except Playboy, Maxim, Uno, FHM and gossip publications)

3. independent Journalism organizations, e.g. Vera Files, PCIJ, CMFR

4. Public Information Offices of government agencies

5. Corporate Communication offices

6. Public Relations companies (must be duly registered with SEC)

7. TV News and Public Affairs (Entertainment division is for Broad majors only)

8. media units of reputable NGOs (Consent of Instructor needed)

 

 

NOT acceptable internship venues

1. political parties

2. film and entertainment production companies

3. marketing / product only websites (e.g. online sites for tourism resorts) 

4. unlicensed, informal sector institutions (not registered with SEC or DTI or BIR) 

5. companies owned and/or operated by your parents

6. classified ads section of newspapers

7. tabloids
